Ryan Terry has been a mainstay in the Buffalo/Fredonia independent music scene since 2019. His electrifying noise-rock-inspired guitar playing, dry and confessional songwriting, and lo-fi production aesthetic are evident throughout his work with bands such as Beach Tower and HitGRL. Raised on acts such as Sonic Youth and Car Seat Headrest and having studied classical composition in his undergrad, Terry immediately set himself apart from his peers in Buffalo with an affinity for noise and distortion, contrasting with the sleeker, cleaner, and chorus-y guitar tones of other local indie-pop bands. Now Terry returns with his newest solo project, Balcony Dogs, combining all of his influences and experience with a unique slacker aesthetic behind the same wall of noise he’s known for.
